New community scheme aims to help Wanaka’s accommodation crisis.

"Workers who prop up the town of Wanaka are currently living in hostens and many are forced to sleep in vans.

This was the headline on Saturday 3rd July 2021, when The WAN featured as part of a Newshub article about the struggle the winter workforce is having trying to find available, affordable accommodation in Wanaka this year.

Sophie Ward (one of our amazing accommodators) willingly shared why she chose to offer her house (through The WAN) to three young workers while she is away for six weeks over winter. A huge thanks to Sophie and all our accommodators that have provided a Roomer a place to call home this winter.

Special thanks to Isobel (reporter) and Byron (cameraman) for being interested in hearing about The WAN.
